Why The World Wasn't Built For Lefties
Speaking from me, a left-hand myself. Righties have it much easier. Lefties are only 10% of the population. Righties dominate the rest. Everyone forgets about us, therefore everyday products are an everyday struggle for us and it's about time someone realizes!
Notebooks- the spiral kind makes it hard to write on the right-hand side of the page.
Pens and Pencils- Righties move away from their handwriting. Lefties move towards it. That makes it for no time for the ink to dry on the page and we end up smudging it. I have to clean the side of the hand at least 5-6 times a day.
Scissors- You rarely find left-handed scissors. When you do, they're usually dull and rusted out. I have to cut right-handed.
Computer-Mouses- When you move a mouse to the left, it doesn't feel right. I use it right-handed, too.
Binders- You end up having to take out the paper you are trying to write on. There is no way to sneak your hand in between the rings.
Desks- Out of a room of 300 chairs, there is only one for lefties. Hello? You end up having to show up 10 minutes early just to get it.
But there is always hope.. Lefties make better athletes because of how they can quickly respond, 26% of lefties go richer than righties, lefties can see underwater easier and there's an extra holiday you can celebrate dedicated to lefties on August 13th. Get your friends and family to buy you gifts for your hard work of tolerating all of the above. I was born on August 9th, so I can celebrate with leftover cake and maybe my family can buy me some extra gifts...
